Still Here Now is an event celebrating the design integrity, the resilience, and the beauty of the Volvo 240.
This event is for people to come together and share their stories about the Volvo 240. Current owners, previous owners, and admirers.
Follow the laws of nature and don’t complicate matters! Functional and sensible designs are often the best looking.
- Jan Wilsgaard
The designer of the Volvo 240
The Volvo 240 possesses that intangible quality that makes us aware of the undeniable truth that modern items are not made with the same intention of design. Owning a car that is not meant to be a throw-away object is a statement against the perceived normalcy of planned obsolescence in our modern culture.
The lens of technology and digital ephemera has forced us to reflect on what it is that makes us human, and what we truly need. Using these cars as an example, we know it is possible to make lasting pieces of infrastructure that can be simple, sustainable, and functional.
So, Let’s celebrate a car that was designed to last. A car that has lasted 2/3rds longer than other cars on the road. A car that is understated, resilient, and is still one of the safest cars on the road (no cameras or computers required).
So, What is Still Here Now?
This is an event for people to come together and talk about the happiness that comes from owning a Volvo 240, and to share their stories with each other.
